dublinbikes celebrated its 2nd birthday on 13th September 2011.  During this time it has been recognised both at home and internationally as one of the most successful bike share rental schemes in the world.  Long term members have grown to over 37,000 with short term subscriptions topping the 25,000 mark.

An incredible 2,527,435 journeys* have been taken on dublinbikes since the scheme launched in Sept 2009.

The busiest day saw 6,280 journeys recorded on July 13th this year, an average of more than 11 journeys per bicycle.  The scheme has expanded to 550 dublinbikes across 44 stations throughout Dublin city centre and there are plans for further development in the near future.

Joanne Grant, Managing Director of JCDecaux Ireland, says the company is delighted with the integration of dublinbikes into the culture of Dublin over such a short space of time. “It is quite remarkable to think that in just two short years, dublinbikes has registered more than 2.5 million journeys. We were equally proud of the endorsement of dublinbikes as the best thing to have happened in the city by 95% of Dubliners in the ‘Your Dublin, your voice’ survey”.

dublinbikes is managed by JCDecaux on behalf of Dublin City Council. For information on commercial opportunities relating to dublinbikes contact Pat.Mannion@jcdecaux.ie
