Ten years ago, Luas made its first journey from Sandyford to St. Stephen’s Green and since then, has been a huge success and asset to the city.
The Green Line opened first with the Red Line following on 28th September 2004. Over the ten years, passenger numbers have increased, topping an amazing 30.5 million journeys last year.
The service has been expanding in various ways with a 105% increase in tram capacity and extensions to both Green and Red Lines. The next phase of development, expected to open in 2017, will further enhance the service and add approximately 10 million more passenger journeys.
