During the months of February, March and April 2013 two children can travel free of charge at weekends on Luas when accompanied by an adult with a valid Luas ticket.
This is one of a range of new fare initiatives which the National Transport Authority will be offering to commuters over the coming year, in conjunction with transport operators. The offer will be available to everyone visiting Dublin for “The Gathering”, St Patrick’s Festival and the Easter holidays. It covers both Luas lines and is available on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Luas carried a record 29.4 million passengers in 2012 and it is hoped that this free offer will encourage even more people to use one of Europe’s most successful light rail systems. 47% of people who regularly travel on Luas are parents.
