As Ireland prepares to welcome the Giro d'Italia, JCDecaux provided the perfect platform to get the word on the street! The race kicks off at the Titanic Quarter in Belfast on 9th May for a 21.7 kilometre time trial stage to Stormont and back. Day 2 sees the cyclists hit the Causeway Costal Route and Day 3 sees the race start off in Armagh and make its way down to Dublin, where the tour will finish its stay in Ireland with a sprint finish to Merrion Square.
Giro d'Italia, Metropole, Dublin
To help promote the Giro's arrival in Dublin, Dublin City Council teamed up with dublinbikes on Saturday last, 12th April. A convoy of 20 cyclists on dublinbikes took to the streets for a 'pink' whistle-stop tour of a number of dublinbikes stations which included; Earlsfort Terrace, St. Stephen’s Green, Barnardo’s Square, Jervis Street and then back to Merrion Square where a balloon arch finish line signaled the end of their tour.

As pink is the traditional colour of the event and the colour of the jersey worn by the race leader, the convoy of cyclists wore pink Giro T-shirts as they travelled around the city centre causing a stir with whistles and razzmatazz. At each of the stops, there were a number of promo staff handing out pink merchandise including branded t-shirts, water bottles, key-rings, badges and pink candy-floss.
