LUAS was the greatest contributor to the overall trend with growth of 18.6% YoY. It now accounts for 20% of total passenger numbers with Dublin City Bus accounting for 62%. As public transport users rise, so too do the opportunities for brands to engage with this audience. . Both traditional and Digital OOH formats allow greater connectivity and engagement with consumers who are constantly on the move. This is evident in the research. According to Kantar Media, 82% of Irish public transport users have see OOH advertising in the past week and 46% have engaged with a brand after seeing an OOH campaign.
The roll out of Digipanels and Digishelters this year has changed the on-street Digital Out of Home landscape in Dublin City. This continued investment, along with traditional OOH being used in creative ways such as Luas tram wraps means greater opportunities for advertisers to reach audiences on the move. With new Digipole and Digipanel locations due to be launched in 2019 and plans to launch Digishelters outside of Dublin in the future, OOH will continue to reach wider audiences.
